Acute Rehab: Licensed Practical Nurse (Night Shift)

Job Responsibilities

  • Implement planned interventions/care as directed and supervised by the Registered Nurse and within the scope of the Indiana Nurse Practice Act requirements for LPN's.
  • Administer medications, know their actions, and side effects, recognize allergic reactions and document the patient's response to drugs.
  • Monitor, regulate, change, and discontinue intravenous fluids.
  • Answer patient call lights for any patient and make frequent rounds on all assigned patients to determine condition and needs.
  • Communicate changes in patient condition to the Registered Nurse and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Provide patient education and explain the procedures, medications, and treatment to be administered to gain cooperation and ease apprehension.
  • Actively work to ensure patients' rights are identified and met for every patient.
  • Collect data as directed by the Registered Nurse assigned to the patient and defined by department policy. Document in patient charts in a timely manner, noting any treatments, etc., given to a patient and any positive or negative exceptions.
  • Assist the Registered Nurse in identifying specific patient needs based on assessment data and in formulating a plan of care based on these needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Education Requirements

  • Minimum: Graduate of accredited School of Practical Nursing


Experience Requirements

  • Minimum: No experience required
  • Preferred: Hospital experience


License/Certification Requirements

Minimum:

  • Practical Nursing license eligible to practice in the state of Indiana
  • Basic Life Safety (American Heart Association)
  • Quality Indicators (QI) credentialing to be provided


Qualifications

Education

Associates or better in Practical Nursing or related field.
