Description

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain a professional relationship with physicians, their office staff, co-workers and other hospital personnel.
  • Schedule surgical procedures with the anesthesiologist, physician, their office or through the nursing units within the hospital according to the limitation of the hospital and/or anesthesia and surgery capacity.
  • Facilitate briefs, huddles and debriefs when necessary.
  • Actively scan and assess situational elements to gain information, understanding, or maintain awareness to support functioning of the team.
  • Identify and obtain necessary information about the patient for scheduling purposes.
  • Enter and review operating room charges into electronic system.
  • Monitor physician preference cards for noted changes and submit to the designated coordinator.
  • Identify additional resources needed for procedures and communicate this information to the necessary team members as soon as possible.
  • Precept additional staff members in the operations of the scheduling office when necessary.
  • Verifies information that is communicated and seek information from all available resources.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Education Requirements

  • Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred: Certified Surgical Technologist


Experience Requirements

  • Minimum: Two (2) years of clinical surgical tech experience
  • Preferred: combination of administrative and clinical experience


License/Certification Requirements

  • BLS (American Heart Association)
